Best Remote Job Sites 2026: 23 That Actually Work

The best remote job sites in 2026 are the ones that actually work: we checked 38 remote job boards on October 22 and kept the 23 with a real job posted in the last seven days. The best place to look for a job is where no one else is looking, so the list starts with smaller and niche boards and ends with the big three everyone already uses.

Why look where no one else is looking

Remote jobs draw a crowd: on LinkedIn, remote listings got 2.7 times the applications of on-site ones (LinkedIn Economic Graph, 2022). Smaller and niche boards are known to fewer people, so they are where fewer applicants look. Every board here is one of the job sites other than Indeed and LinkedIn.

Freshness matters too. Ashby's analysis of 13 million applications found a posting gets roughly two to three times more applications in its first week than in any later week, so a month-old post already has most of its applicants. That is why every board below had to post a real job this week.

Remote job sites compared: cost and newest post

All dates are the newest real post we saw on October 22, 2026. Most of these remote job websites can be browsed for free without an account; the cost column marks the paid tiers. Hacker News is a monthly thread, listed as a bonus and not counted in the 23.

Where to find remote jobs, by need: no sign-up needed, SkipTheDrive. Jobs open to any country, Real Work From Anywhere. Startups, Wellfound. Nonprofits, Idealist. Jobs straight from company career pages, Remote Rocketship.

Curated and smaller remote job sites

These boards are smaller or more hand-picked than the big three further down. Volume varies, so check each one: SkipTheDrive, for example, claims 35,000+ jobs.

1. NoDesk

NoDesk is a small, hand-picked list of remote jobs with a weekly newsletter. It does not try to list everything, so what is there was chosen.

  • Newest post we saw: "Learning Design and Enablement Manager" at 1Password, and "Senior Meta Strategist" at Directive Consulting, both October 20.
  • Cost: free.
  • Catch: low volume. Check it once or twice a week, not every hour.

2. Jobspresso

Jobspresso says "100% of our jobs are hand-picked, manually reviewed and expertly curated." It leans toward tech, marketing, customer support and writing.

  • Newest post we saw: "Content Reviewer" at TELUS Digital, October 21.
  • Cost: free.
  • Catch: curation means fewer listings per day than the big boards.

3. SkipTheDrive

SkipTheDrive is a plain, no-frills remote board. It says "there's no registration and no charge to search," and it is strongest for US-based remote roles.

  • Newest post we saw: "Corporate Development Director" at GitLab, posted two days before our check.
  • Cost: free, no account needed.
  • Catch: mostly US jobs.

4. Dynamite Jobs

Dynamite Jobs only lists companies that work remotely by default: "We only work with remote first employers who offer 100% work-from-home jobs." That filters out "remote" jobs that turn hybrid after the first interview.

  • Newest post we saw: "Account Executive (SaaS / B2B)" at Wash-Dry-Fold POS, opened three days before our check.
  • Cost: free profile.
  • Catch: smaller list than the aggregators below.

5. Real Work From Anywhere

Real Work From Anywhere calls itself "the only job board where every job is truly location-independent." Useful if you keep running into "Remote (US only)".

  • Newest post we saw: "Community Support Manager" at Raya, anywhere in the world, one day before our check.
  • Cost: free to browse.
  • Catch: truly global jobs are rarer, so the list is short.

6. Remote.io

Remote.io is a smaller general remote board, heavier on tech roles.

  • Newest post we saw: "Solutions Engineer - Central" at Neo4j, two days before our check.
  • Cost: free to browse.
  • Catch: tech-heavy; fewer non-technical roles.

7. EU Remote Jobs

EU Remote Jobs lists remote jobs in Europe and European time zones. It is a regional board, so applicants from the rest of the world rarely see it.

  • Newest post we saw: "Lead FullStack Engineer (AI)" at Xebia, posted eight hours before our check.
  • Cost: free to browse.
  • Catch: most roles expect you to live in, or work the hours of, Europe.

8. JustRemote

JustRemote advertises "2000+ hidden remote jobs" and covers most job families.

  • Newest post we saw: "Growth Enterprise Account Executive" at Coursera, October 22.
  • Cost: free to browse; a paid "Power Search" add-on.
  • Catch: many listings are restricted to the US.

Aggregators that pull from company career pages

These sites collect jobs from company career pages and other sources, so one search covers many employers. They are large; use the filters.

9. Remote Rocketship

Remote Rocketship says its jobs are "pulled straight from company career pages. Most land here before any other job board." It was the freshest board we checked.

  • Newest post we saw: "Client Advocate" at HealthMark Group, posted the minute we loaded the page.
  • Cost: free to browse; a paid subscription is listed on its pricing page.
  • Catch: volume is high, so set filters before you scroll.

10. Himalayas

Himalayas is a large, free remote job database with company profiles. Its public jobs API reported 123,375 jobs on the day we checked.

  • Newest post we saw: "Revenue Operations Mgr" at Kenco Group, October 22.
  • Cost: free; it says "No credit card required."
  • Catch: big enough to feel like a big board; use the filters.

11. Jobgether

Jobgether lists remote jobs with location filters, and its homepage advertises more than 200,000 of them.

  • Newest post we saw: "Senior Software Engineer" at Definiti LLC, October 22.
  • Cost: free to browse; it also sells a matching service we did not test.
  • Catch: check where the role can be done from before you apply.

12. DailyRemote

DailyRemote is a daily feed of remote jobs with worldwide filters.

  • Newest post we saw: "Video Fraud Detection Analyst" at iMerit Technology, the day before our check.
  • Cost: free; a premium tier unlocks more listings.
  • Catch: part of the list sits behind the premium tier.

13. Working Nomads

Working Nomads is a curated list of fully remote jobs, popular with people who travel.

  • Newest post we saw: "Senior Angular Developer" at Lemon.io, October 21.
  • Cost: free; a premium tier.
  • Catch: curated, so lighter in some job families.

14. Virtual Vocations

Virtual Vocations says it lists "remote jobs from human-vetted companies" and showed 40,275 jobs on the day we checked.

  • Newest post we saw: "Senior Product Manager" at Nielsen Consumer LLC (NielsenIQ), October 22.
  • Cost: a free account is required to browse; Premium shows company names and full access.
  • Catch: the account wall. If you will not sign up, skip it.

Niche remote job boards: one kind of employer

Niche boards are the easiest way to look where no one else is looking. Most applicants never search a board for nonprofits, four-day weeks or startups.

15. Idealist

Idealist is a job board for nonprofits and social-impact organisations, a niche many job hunters never search.

  • Newest post we saw: "Geopolitics Researcher [Remote - Part Time]" at the Center for Asia-Pacific Strategy and Taiwan Studies, October 20.
  • Cost: free.
  • Catch: remote and on-site jobs are mixed; filter for remote.

16. PowerToFly

PowerToFly connects employers with women and underrepresented talent. It says: "Most applications never reach a recruiter. Ours do."

  • Newest post we saw: "Analyst, Global Social Impact Programs" at Visa, October 22 (listed as hybrid in Atlanta, GA).
  • Cost: free.
  • Catch: remote, hybrid and on-site jobs are mixed.

17. 4 Day Week

4 Day Week lists "roles at companies committed to better work-life balance — 4-day weeks, 9-day fortnights, flexible schedules and more." Some of them are remote, like the one below.

  • Newest post we saw: "Senior Digital Marketing Manager" at Form3, remote in the UK or USA, October 19.
  • Cost: free; Pro shows the company names on the newest jobs.
  • Catch: not remote-only, and the newest posts hide the company unless you pay.

18. Arc.dev

Arc.dev is built for remote developers. It mixes its own listings with jobs from other sites.

  • Newest post we saw: "Senior Experience Design Lead" at Salesforce, October 21.
  • Cost: free to browse.
  • Catch: mainly developer and tech roles.

19. Wellfound

Wellfound, formerly AngelList Talent, is for startup jobs, and it asks employers to set salary and equity up front.

  • Newest post we saw: "Backend Engineer" at Astra, remote in the United States, one day before our check.
  • Cost: free to browse; applying needs an account.
  • Catch: startups only, and remote and on-site jobs are mixed.

20. Built In

Built In covers tech companies and has a remote filter.

  • Newest post we saw: "Senior Account Executive" at Xero, remote or hybrid, three hours before our check.
  • Cost: free.
  • Catch: large, and "remote" includes some hybrid roles.

The big three: still worth checking, but everyone is here

These boards work and post every day. They are also where most remote job seekers already look. We Work Remotely says it has "6M monthly visitors," and Remote OK says it can "reach 16,500,000+ remote workers." Check them, but do not stop there.

21. We Work Remotely

We Work Remotely is one of the largest remote-only boards and posts new jobs every day.

  • Newest post we saw: "Creative Director - Brand Narrative" at Mercury, October 22.
  • Cost: free to browse.
  • Catch: a large audience, so expect large applicant piles.

22. Remote OK

Remote OK is a huge remote list, strongest in tech.

  • Newest post we saw: "Clinical Data Manager" at Penumbra, October 21.
  • Cost: free; a premium tier.
  • Catch: crowded; check each job's location limits.

23. Remotive

Remotive says it lists "130,000+ fully remote jobs from vetted companies."

  • Newest post we saw: "Software Engineer, AI Coding Tasks" at Askable, October 17, in its public jobs feed.
  • Cost: the free view shows only part of the listings; full access is paid.
  • Catch: you see a slice for free, and everyone else sees the same slice.

Bonus: Hacker News "Who is hiring?"

At the start of every month, Hacker News opens a "Who is hiring?" thread where founders and engineers post jobs themselves, with no recruiters in between. The October 2026 thread opened on October 1 and had 319 top-level posts by October 22.

It is not a daily board. Most posts arrive in the first two or three days, so read it on the 1st to the 3rd of each month and search the page for "REMOTE". The next thread is due in early November.

Dead remote job boards to remove from your list

Every board below appeared on at least one recent list of remote job sites. None of them passed our check.

Board What we found on October 22, 2026
GitHub Jobs Closed. GitHub announced the deprecation on April 19, 2021 and shut the site on August 19, 2021.
EuropeRemotely Parked domain; the page returns "The content of the page cannot be displayed".
Pangian The domain redirects to a GoDaddy for-sale page.
Outsourcely The domain no longer resolves.
CloudPeeps The domain no longer resolves.
RezPass Live, but a resume keyword tool, not a job board.
Remote Woman Live, but the newest post was October 12, ten days old.
Authentic Jobs Live, but the newest post was October 14, and the one before it October 2.
Golang Cafe Live, but the newest post was 15 days old.

We could not verify five more on the day: Career Hound shows no post dates without paid access, Remote.co and FlexJobs timed out on every request, Climatebase showed a bot check, and Y Combinator's Work at a Startup did not return readable listings. They may be fine; we just cannot vouch for this week.

How to find remote jobs on these sites without wasting a week

A list of boards is only half the job. This routine keeps you on fresh posts and off the crowded ones:

  1. Pick five boards, not twenty-three. Two small curated boards, one aggregator, one niche board that fits you, and one of the big three. Checking everything every day burns the time you need for applications.
  2. Subscribe instead of searching. Most of these boards have email alerts, a newsletter or an RSS feed. Let the new posts come to you.
  3. Check the post date before you apply. Ashby's data says the first week of a posting gets roughly two to three times more applications than any later week, so a month-old post already has most of its applicants and may be close to filled.
  4. Check the location line first. "Remote" often means "remote in one country". Real Work From Anywhere and EU Remote Jobs exist because of that.
  5. Tailor the resume to each post. A fresh post on a quiet board is wasted if the resume gets filtered out. Run it through the free ATS resume checker first to see which keywords from the job description are missing.
  6. Treat payment requests as a red flag. Any request to pay for equipment, training or a "starter kit" before you are hired is a classic job-scam sign.

Is this the hidden job market?

Not quite. The "hidden job market" usually means jobs that are filled through referrals and networking before they are ever advertised. No job board can show you those.

What these boards show is the next best thing: real, advertised jobs in places most applicants never search, while the posting is still new. When you find a company you like on one of them, follow it, and talk to people who work there. That is how the hidden part of the market opens up.

When the applications turn into interviews

The boards get you the interview. After that, practice is what decides the offer: our 7-day technical interview plan turns a job description into a study plan, and the best AI mock interview tools roundup covers how to rehearse your answers out loud.

Method and limits

  • Date and window. Every board was checked on October 22, 2026, between 10:39 and 11:05 UTC, without logging in (for Virtual Vocations, a single job page and the sitemap). The cut-off was a real post dated October 15, 2026 or later.
  • How the newest post was read. From the page itself, the board's RSS feed, its public jobs API (Remote OK, Remotive, Working Nomads, Himalayas), its RSS feed (We Work Remotely, Jobspresso, NoDesk) or the structured data and sitemap of a job page. Relative dates such as "2 days ago" are counted from the time of the check. Hacker News's monthly thread is shown as a bonus and not counted in the 23, because its newest remote post was October 14.
  • No accounts. We did not log in, sign up or pay for any board, so paid tiers and application flows were not tested.
  • No applicant counts. We could not get applicants-per-job numbers for these boards, so "less crowded" is about audience size and niche, not a measured number.
  • Quotes and numbers are the sites' own. Audience sizes, job counts and "hand-picked" claims come from each site's pages on the day of the check.
  • Boards change fast. A board that passed today can go quiet next month. We will recheck this list and update the date at the top.

Quick answers

What are the best remote job sites in 2026?

Remote job sites that posted real jobs in the week to October 22, 2026 include NoDesk, Jobspresso, SkipTheDrive, Dynamite Jobs, Real Work From Anywhere, Himalayas, Remote Rocketship and Jobgether. The larger boards, We Work Remotely, Remote OK and Remotive, are also active, with audiences in the millions by their own figures.

Are there good job sites other than Indeed and LinkedIn?

Yes. Twenty-three remote job boards passed our October 2026 check, meaning they loaded and showed real jobs posted within seven days. Smaller curated boards such as NoDesk and Jobspresso, and aggregators of company career pages such as Remote Rocketship, show openings that many applicants never see on Indeed or LinkedIn.

Which remote job sites are free to use?

Free remote job sites with fresh posts in October 2026 include NoDesk, Jobspresso, SkipTheDrive, Himalayas, Dynamite Jobs, Idealist, PowerToFly and Built In. Remotive, Remote OK, Working Nomads, DailyRemote, Remote Rocketship, JustRemote and 4 Day Week are free to browse but sell a paid tier, and Virtual Vocations requires a free account first.

How do I find remote jobs with less competition?

Search smaller and niche remote job boards as well as the biggest sites, and check that each post is recent. Ashby found that a posting receives roughly two to three times more applications in its first week than in any later week, so the applicant pile forms quickly.

Are free remote job sites legit?

Most free remote job sites are legitimate, but check that the board is still alive and the post is recent. Five boards still recommended on older lists were dead or unreachable in October 2026. Treat any request to pay for equipment or training before you are hired as a red flag.
