# Privacy and your data

> Understand local session material, secure token storage, backend AI requests, optional recovery material, and telemetry.

Privacy choices depend on the feature you use and the settings you choose. Read the details below before sharing sensitive material.

## What stays on your device

GeekBye can keep local screenshots and transcripts associated with your sessions. Authentication tokens are stored using the platform's secure storage.

## AI requests and network use

AI requests are sent through the authenticated GeekBye backend. GeekBye does not accept an OpenAI or other provider API key from the client.

## Review your controls

- Review saved sessions and local material in the app.
- Choose whether to enable the recovery-audio preference.
- Review available telemetry controls and the current privacy policy for details.

> **Note:** Optional recovery material and telemetry are handled according to their settings and applicable service behavior; do not assume immediate deletion or that every datum remains local.
