# Permissions and audio setup

> Set up the microphone, screen access, and system audio sharing GeekBye needs on your platform.

Grant permissions before a live session so GeekBye can access the context and audio you choose to use.

## Set up macOS permissions

1. Allow Screen Recording for screen context.
2. Allow Microphone for Listen.
3. Quit and reopen GeekBye if macOS asks you to restart after changing Screen Recording.

> **Warning:** A macOS restart of GeekBye is often required after you first grant Screen Recording.

## Set up Windows audio

- Allow microphone access for GeekBye.
- When starting a live session, enable system-audio sharing if you need that audio included.

## Choose the right input

Confirm your selected microphone before starting Listen, especially after connecting a headset or changing devices.

> **Note:** The optional Fn shortcut preset on macOS also requires Input Monitoring.
