Re: Junior Software Engineer — Example Hiring Team

Dear Hiring Team,

I am applying for the Junior Software Engineer role at Example Hiring Team. I am interested in work that connects reliable booking rules with interfaces people can use by keyboard. At Example Studio, I worked on Node.js appointment validation and a keyboard-operated booking flow. My independent Booking Lab project adds React and persistent-storage work that I would be glad to discuss alongside those contributions.

In the internship, I built appointment-conflict validation in a Node.js API and added regression tests for overlapping bookings. I also replaced an inaccessible date picker with a keyboard-operated flow after testing it with the product team. That work connects directly to the API testing and interface requirements in your advert. I would welcome the opportunity to explain how the validation and the booking flow addressed different parts of the appointment workflow, and to walk through the regression tests.

Booking Lab is an independent appointment scheduler with persistent storage and automated conflict tests. I documented the tradeoff between database constraints and application validation, and added a reproducible local demo. The project uses TypeScript, React, Node.js and PostgreSQL. I would be glad to demonstrate its booking behaviour, discuss the design notes and explain what the tests cover. The demo also offers a practical starting point for discussing changes to booking rules and the limitations of the current implementation.

I would welcome the chance to contribute to the API and interface work described in this role. In a conversation, I can walk through the internship changes and Booking Lab, including their different contexts and implementation choices. Thank you for considering my application; I look forward to discussing the role and your expectations for a junior engineer.

Kind regards,

Zoë Șerban
